Sheridan Homeschool Enrichment Program

Homeschool Support Starts Here

S.H.E.P. is more than just a program that meets for classes. It is a hub for resources, a place to find help, support and community. We strive to encourage parents in their God-given roles, in teaching and training their children and to provide support and encouragement in the journey of homeschooling from early education to graduation.

Meet Our Team

SHEP is a success, only because of the hearts and passion of our team members. Each of our teachers were prayerfully and intentionally chosen for their passion for their subject, as well as the way they live out what they teach in their personal lives. SHEP is different than a co-op, in that we hire teachers who are devoted to teaching and training in their field of expertise. Each year we grow and change to meet the needs of our families, but only if and when the Lord organically brings the next member of the team to us. We are so proud of the team we have built and the community we are growing of families who have a love for rich and home-based education!

I am a homeschool mom of 4 amazing kids and wife to an adventurous husband. My background is in technical writing and research, but my true loves are education, creativity and people! I am passionate about helping others see that they are capable of homeschooling and that God gives us these beautiful little people as gifts that He asks us to raise and educate ourselves! I'm convinced that in a community is the best way to flourish while raising children and we weren't meant to do it alone. Homeschooling is such a beautiful lifestyle and the possibilities are endless for each individual family. I started this program and community as a way to meet needs and desires I had for each of my 4 kids, knowing that other families felt the same way I did. I am so excited to see it grow and reach people in our community, as our ideas of education change and expand for the better!

Literature

I love words and books, and want that love to rub off on everyone I know. I believe parents are their children’s first and best teachers. I believe that, in this season, I’m called to help parents believe that for themselves. I homeschooled my kids for eight years, then ran a coffee shop for five years (my time in the wilderness) while waiting for God to give me other people’s kids to teach. We moved to Sheridan in 2007 where, one day, I “just happened” to hear about a job at a classical Christian school. I taught in that two-room schoolhouse for ten years. Since 2017, I have been tutoring kids and parents. Further Up and Further In is my way of sharing with other homeschoolers the curriculum I developed for my own kids.
At https://plumfieldandpaideia.com/, my partner and I write about good books and homeschooling life.
I also write regularly for https://theglorioustable.com/, and podcast with my family at https://therambleroom.podbean.com/.

Laurie Schuett,

Biblical Literacy

laurieschuett@gmail.com

My name is Laurie Schuett and I will be teaching Bible for the Homeschool Enrichment program. I have a passion for GOD’s Word and since visiting Israel several years ago, I’ve also developed a love of the Hebrew language. Couple that with a love of kids and my dream job has become showing kids the beauty of the Bible and its Author. I taught English in a public high school for 14 years, and am currently teaching Bible online for a middle school in Colorado. My husband, Chris, and I have three adult children (two of which are back in CO) but the other three of us are loving life in Sheridan and excited to get to know more of you all!

Oi! I’m Kimberly Anderson. I grew up as a missionary kid in Brasil. I speak Portuguese, love soccer, and love to cook Brasilian food.  I’ve had the privilege of teaching Portuguese this past year at SHEP, and have loved seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they learn something new. I’m also excited to transition into Geography and explore the world and new cultures with the students! I’ve been a homeschool mom for 16 years and have lived in Sheridan for 20.

My name is Cherie Eriksen. I am a homeschooling momma to my three amazing kids. I love spending all our family's free time outdoors enjoying God's creation, especially in the mountains camping, fishing, hiking and four-wheeling. I love inviting kiddos to play and learn, listen to stories and watch their eyes light up as they learn knew things. I can't wait for the upcoming year at SHEP and all that it holds for our homeschooling community.
